Accessibility statement

Our commitment

This site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That is the standard applied to Canadian federal government sites and the expectation set by Ontario’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

What we do to hold that standard

• Automated accessibility tests run against this site on every change, and a failure blocks the change from being published.
• Every image has alt text. Images that carry no information are marked as decorative deliberately, not by omission.
• Headings follow a single logical order. They are not used to make text larger.
• The site is operable by keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator.
• Form fields have labels that assistive technology can read, and errors are described in words rather than by colour alone.
• There is no auto-advancing carousel or slideshow.

Independent audit

Before this site launches it is audited by an independent third party. Our own testing is not treated as sufficient evidence for a government site. The audit result will be summarised on this page, including anything we have not yet fixed.

Known limitations

To be listed following the independent audit. We publish what is outstanding rather than only what passes.
